About Gabe's
Welcome to the legendary bar known as Gabe’s . What first started as The Pub in the early 70’s, then became Fox and Sam’s then Gabe and Walker’s then Gabe’s Oasis, then the Picador, and now back to Gabe’s. And While it has gone through many transformations, it is strangely the same – except that it is probably now in the best shape that it has ever been. We are bringing high quality local, regional and national shows to Iowa City and have made the downstairs and the beer garden a great place to hang out again. One of our favorite things about this place is that you can do ANY type of music upstairs. It is not uncommon to see a punk show followed by a metal show with a jam band show the next night and a hip hop show the night after. Rock on

Great experience, as far as music goes. As a former performer, as a courtesy I asked the guy at the ticket table if I needed a stamp for re-entry. “You got a wristband don’t you?” Was the snobby response. I can see why my former band mate didn’t care for him our last go around

One of the few places in the CR Iowa City area to hear live music. My first experience here gives me underground grunge vibes. Walls painted with dark colors and covered with stickers, posters and sharpie graffiti. A double cocktail was $10 and jello shot $3

I dont think I have a bad thing to say about this place, except the bands ability to remove equipment off the stage after their set/between bands. But I've had some of the best nights of my life in this place. 5 ☆ all the way for me l.

Probably the greatest college town live music venues in the country. Have seen many acts here. Mac Lethal, Smashing Pumpkins, Black Keys, Radkey, GZA, L7, Neutral Milk Hotel, Sludgeplow, and many others. Grimy bathroom. Stickers on everything. When I took my son here he said "It smells like the Can Shed in here." I told him that's how you know it's great
